Self adhesive vinyl wall mural

A full-colour printed vinyl mural that goes straight onto the wall itself. No frame, no board, no stretcher bar: the artwork becomes the wall. Use it for a feature wall behind reception, a graphic backdrop in a gym or clinic, a themed wall in a retail fit-out, or a photographic scene that turns a blank corridor into something worth walking down.

What you receive is a single printed piece, made to the width and height you enter, on opaque white self-adhesive vinyl, ready to hang on the wall. If the wall is wider than we can print in one piece, the job belongs on Panelled Wall Murals instead — that product splits the image into overlapping drops designed to be hung side by side, which is a different job to install and a different thing to buy.

Two films, both opaque white print vinyls. 3M-IJ35 is the everyday interior choice. 3M-IJ175 is the heavier-duty cast film, worth the difference on a mural that has to stay flat and stay put for years, or one that will be cleaned regularly. Because both are opaque, the colour of the wall underneath does not show through and does not need to be light — but it does need to be smooth.

Lamination comes in gloss, matte, optically clear, dry erase or anti-graffiti. On a mural matte is usually the right answer: large flat areas of colour show every ceiling light and every window reflection, and matte also survives fingerprints and wiping better in a corridor. Contour cut is there for murals that are a shape rather than a rectangle — a logo, a map outline, a mountain range, a silhouette that ends where the artwork ends.

The honest limits are all about the wall. Smooth, sealed, fully cured paint only. Knockdown and orange-peel texture, brick, block, unsealed plaster and paint applied in the last few weeks will not hold an adhesive film reliably, and a large mural is less forgiving than a small decal because the film keeps a little tension on itself and finds every weak spot. Removal from sound paintwork is usually clean, but no adhesive vinyl is guaranteed paint-safe. Not for shower walls or anywhere with standing condensation.

Order by entering the finished width and height of the mural. Installation is not included, and anything above about a metre wide is far easier with two people and a felt squeegee than with one person and good intentions.

How to Set Up Your Files Prepare your artwork correctly to help avoid delays and ensure the best possible print quality. General File Preparation Guidelines
  1. Use the product template or file setup guide when one is provided.
  2. Remove all hidden layers, guides, dielines or artwork that is not intended to print.
  3. Submit each project as a single, print-ready PDF. For multi-page files, all pages should be the same size and placed in the correct order.
  4. Make sure the file dimensions and orientation match the product being ordered.
  5. Avoid placing borders too close to the finished edge, as minor movement during trimming may make them appear uneven.
  6. For bleed, follow the margins provided in the product template. Keep important text, logos and design elements safely inside the trim line.
  7. Artwork should be high resolution, set to CMYK and supplied at 300 DPI whenever possible.
  8. Use C0, M0, Y0, K100 for small black text. For larger areas of deep black, use C30, M20, Y20, K100.
  9. Convert all fonts to outlines or ensure they are properly embedded in the PDF.
  10. Review your artwork carefully before uploading. Files are printed using the information provided, and colour may appear differently on screen than it does in print.
White Text on Black Backgrounds Small or thin white text placed over a rich black background may fill in or become difficult to read during printing. For better results, use a minimum font size of 8 pt and avoid extremely thin lettering or lines. File requirements may vary by product. If you are unsure whether your artwork is ready, please contact our team before placing your order. Additional artwork charges may apply if changes are required.
